Demo Introduction

This is the demo version of The Roman Adventure, a mathematical adventure for children aged 7 to 11 years, in which children are sent back to the time of the Romans by a clever professor to collect a historical items to display in the new wing of his museum. Once back in time, children can explore a Roman town, and can take part in 11 different activities which enable children to practise different maths skills, including:

  • Ministry of Works

 

- Perimeter, area and volumes of buildings

  • Making Mosaics

 

- Making patterns, symmetry

  • The Feast

 

- Fractions, decimals and remainders

  • Counting Votes

  • Running a Shop

 

- Simulation about running a shop (no demo)

  • Money

 

- Using money

  • Street Trader

 

- Percentages

  • Parts of Food

 

- Equivalent fractions

  • History questions

 

- Historical facts

  • Spot the Difference

 

- Properties of shapes and triangles


In the full version children may also explore the town and take part in these activities in different locations.

Choice of Level

There are three levels of difficulty:

slave: aimed at Year 3 (7 year olds);
citizen: aimed at Year 5 (9 years olds);
senator: aimed at Year 6 (10 year olds).
