Many of the activities from the Smudge CD-ROMs are available
as individual titles in the web browser range. These
are disk based software programs which run within Internet
Browsers (such as Internet Explorer), and include the user
guide, curriculum links and in many cases, additional material
on the disk. Included in this range are: Amazing Ollie—a
popular maze game to help with number recognition, counting and
addition; and Tiny Tim—an activity to introduce turtle control.
For children in the 7 to 11 age bracket, there are two mathematical
adventures with historical themes—The
Roman Adventure and The
Calabash Pirates. In both programs, children are involved in
mathematical, geographical and historical activities requiring
puzzle solving, decision making and planning skills to find solutions.
The Early Years Software (Smudge the Spaniel) programs are
designed to introduce and re-inforce basic skills to children
aged between 4 and 11 years. The range covers titles in numeracy,
literacy, science, punctuation and geography.
For 7-11 year olds (Key Stage 2 in England) there are two
mathematical adventure titles with historical themes, making
them suitable for cross-curricular working. Both these programs
may also be used at home or in after school clubs.
Pairing contains a number of memory skill and thinking activities,
presented in a colourful and interactive way to re-inforce early
number and early word skills.
These program run within Internet Browsers (such

can be used on a standalone computer. Online versions of this
software are also available.
