In Counting Numbers, children can
select and draw around large numbers from 0 to 10, and count
Smudge’s favourite toys. This activity will help children with
number recognition, counting and written formation.
In Dot to Dot, help Smudge complete
the outline of each picture by joining up the dots, before
colouring in the completed picture. There are pictures with
10, 20 and 30 dots.
In Count and Colour, children paint
scenes by answering sums. This activity contains a number of
scenes which can be used to reinforce addition, subtraction
and missing numbers. Each scene contains different sums every
time the activity is used.
Smudge is lost and can not find
her kennel. Children need to direct Smudge, either by using
the arrow keys, or by creating a route, which she can then
follow. Directing Smudge will help children with basic spatial
skills.
Smudge needs your help in the Shape
Warehouse to sort objects by shape and colour as they come
along a conveyor belt. To do this, children need to select
levers to make the shapes drop into the appropriate bins.
A tutorial to introduce the times
tables from 1 to 12, in which each multiplication sum from
a selected table is shown in sequence, and children need
to look, copy the sum, and then do the sum on their own. When
the sequence is complete, the rocket lifts off into space!
Smudge’s space ship is under threat
from asteroids, and children need to answer multiplication
sums, using the tables from 2 to 12, to build a protective
shield in space. An ideal way to reinforce times tables skills.
In Flash Quiz, multiplication sums
are shown on the screen, for children to answer. Instant feedback
is given to show if children are right or wrong. Sums can be
selected from one table, or from a random selection.
Mission Control is a multiple choice
activity for reinforcing the multiplication tables from 2x
to 12x. In the activity, multiplication sums are shown on a
panel and children must choose the button with the correct
answer.
Grid Lock contains two different
activities using a grid: Fill in the Table in which children
need to complete the number grid on the screen; and Colour
the Number in which children need to colour in the column and
row containing the numbers in a given times table.
Tiny Tim is a turtle programming
activity which enables children to give instructions, and see
the results of their actions, which can be discussed and improved
on further attempts. The activity includes some pre-defined
work activities to complete.
In Amazing Ollie, Ollie the Octopus
must be moved around different undersea mazes, in order to
catch fish for himself and his hungry children. Amazing Ollie
is an entertaining program that enables children to improve
their basic numerical skills and hand-eye co-ordination.
The Numeracy Collection is six
different activities to introduce and improve early numeracy
skills. The collection features includes: a Dot to Dot activity; Count
and Colour for addition skills; Smudge’s Sorter to
help with spatial skills and hand-eye co-ordination; and Launch
Pad, Asteroids and Flash Quiz to test
multiplication skills. This software runs under web browsers.
