Geography is a key skill for early years children as we
all regularly use maps to display information and to direct
us to places, and it is the starting point for learning about
the world around us. The 'Early Compass and Map Skills' program
introduces children to the basic steps in geography, which
consists of a range of interactive activities covering:
the points of a compass
the use of position and direction
basic map skills, and
dressing Smudge for different weather conditions
This is supported by a user guide, and support notes, with
resources, to illustrate how the activities may be used in
the classroom and ideas for work away from the computer.
The use of position and direction also forms part of the
numeracy curriculum.
'Early Compass and Map Skills' is the
first title in a range of geography programs for children
aged 4 years and above.
Whiteboard news
We
have been working with Steljes, the interactive whiteboard
maunfacturer of the SMART Board, who have accredited our
range of software with "Approved for SMART Board" status,
and have included the software in the range of titles they
resell.
Changes to the Numeracy Collection and the Literacy Collection
Our two popular titles for foundation level and early years
children have been updated to include new graphics and
a new look for enhanced compatiblity with interactive whiteboards.
These include a non-white background, so children aren't
dazzled, and the working areas will be at the bottom of
the screen so children do not have to reach too high.
BETT 2007
In January, we were again in our usual position at the
BETT Show in Olympia, London. This year our stand was enhanced
by having a gigantic interactive SMART whiteboard on the
stand, and the help of Daniel to help with the number of
visitors (see photo on the right). As always our stand was
very popular with thousands of visitors, many of them from
abroad and we are looking forward to the 2008 show already!
World Didac 2006 in Basel
Last October we attended the Word Didac exhibition in Basel,
Switzerland, as part of the UK party, organised by BESA.
The show is the leading educational show for German and
Swiss schools and has a reputation for attracting trade
buyers from all over the world
New Overseas Resellers
Following on from the very succesful BETT Show, we are working
with University Book Store (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia to promote
and resell our titles into the country.
We are also working closely with Edit Micros in South Africa
to continue our association with reach primary schools in
the country.
Online demo areas
We are due to launch online versions of our products, and
the first step in this direction is that we have an online
interactive demos of The Roman Adventure available here.
Apple Mac
We are now producing Apple Mac versions of our titles, and
these are currently available upon request.
BT
We
are very pleased to have our software included in the BT
Learning Centre (www.btlearningcentre.com)
which gives pupils of all ages the chance to continue learning
online at home, while following the curriculum at school.
For just £3.99 a month pupils can improve key skills
and save time whilst researching projects.
